Since the beginning of this year, the global textile supply chain has undergone continuous and profound adjustments. Southeast Asia, leveraging its cost and trade advantages, has become an important growth pole for the textile industry. According to data from the Cambodia Customs Administration, in the first quarter of 2026, the export value of clothing and footwear products in the country reached 3.21 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year. The industry's resilience continues to be evident. At the same time, China's PTA exports have maintained a favorable trend. In March, the export volume reached 311,300 tons. Southeast Asian and neighboring regions such as India and Vietnam have become the core export markets. 

In the first quarter, the overall performance of the clothing, footwear and travel goods industry in Cambodia showed a steady growth trend. The export value of clothing and apparel products reached 2.69 billion US dollars, increasing by 7.5% year-on-year, accounting for 83.8% of the total export value of textile, footwear and apparel. Among them, the export value of knitted clothing was 1.58 billion US dollars, increasing by 7.7% year-on-year; the export value of non-knitted clothing exceeded 1 billion US dollars, increasing by 3.4% year-on-year. The export value of other textiles was 110 million US dollars, increasing significantly by 61.1% year-on-year, indicating the potential for expansion in areas such as bedding and decorative textiles. The export value of footwear products was 520 million US dollars, increasing by 11.8% year-on-year, with a growth rate higher than that of clothing categories. 

The upstream raw material market is closely linked with the downstream textile manufacturing industry. In March 2026, China's PTA export volume reached 311,300 tons, with the exports concentrated in India, Vietnam, Egypt, Russia and Bangladesh. The combined export volume of the top five markets accounted for over 80%. Among them, India rose to become the primary export region, with an export volume of approximately 112,000 tons, a significant increase compared to February; Vietnam and Egypt ranked second and third respectively, with export volumes of 68,400 tons and 39,000 tons respectively. The combined share of Southeast Asia and South Asia exceeded 60%, becoming an important growth engine for China's PTA exports. 

Over 90% of the fabrics and raw materials used in Cambodia's textile and footwear industry are imported. China is one of its major raw material suppliers. As the global consumer market gradually recovers and with the support of relevant trade policies, the textile industry in Southeast Asia is expected to maintain stable growth, which will further drive the export demand for China's PTA and textile raw materials.
