What are the production techniques for spunbond nonwovens?


Spunbond nonwovens are made by extruding and stretching polymers to form continuous filaments, then laying the filaments into a web. The web is then formed into a nonwoven fabric through self-bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding, or mechanical reinforcement. Spunbond nonwovens offer excellent high and low temperature resistance. Polypropylene can be used for extended periods at temperatures up to 150°C, while polyester can be used for extended periods at temperatures up to 260°C. They offer advantages such as aging resistance, UV resistance, high elongation, excellent stability and breathability, corrosion resistance, sound insulation, moth resistance, and non-toxicity.


Spunbond nonwovens primarily include polypropylene and polyester (long and short fiber) nonwovens. Common and frequently used applications include nonwoven bags and nonwoven packaging. Spunbond nonwovens are easily recognizable and generally exhibit good bidirectional fastness. The winding points are typically diamond-shaped.
